Research in childhood has changed in the last decades. As it has been dominated from psychological, paediatric or pedagogical research approach for a long time, since the late seventies more and more social scientific research has got an important approach. Societal questions arose as children have been constituted first, as active participants in society, educational institutions or the family, and secondly as a weak societal group. Thus, for example, the living conditions of children, child poverty, children’s rights, the historical change of childhood under conditions of societal and economic transformation, or the interrelation between childhood and welfare state has got important topics.
The lecture focuses on these changes of childhood research. First the lecture talks about new objects of childhood research, secondly about methodological paradigms and thirdly, some consequences for research methods are reflected.
