The Faculty of Theology of Trnava University has its origin in the Theological Institute of Saint Aloysius of Society of Jesus in Slovakia which resumed its public activity after 41 years on September 30, 1991. Accreditation Commission of the Government of the Slovak Republic approved of the establishment of the Faculty of Theology by transformation of the Theological Institute of Saint Aloysius of Society of Jesus under Trnava University during its meeting on December 5, 1996. Being aware of its mission, tradition and Christian character of Trnava University and its relation with Society of Jesus, The Faculty of Theology focuses on human, spiritual and mainly Christian values of human being, family and society when teaching and performing scientific research and education. On the grounds of scientific research outcomes, the faculty offers bachelor and masters study in the study programmes: Catholic Theology, Christian Philosophy and Family Studies and PhD study in the fields: Catholic Theology and Christian Philosophy. It likewise creates space for lifelong learning of consecrated persons and seniors.
